We're Married! - Part 1

Yoooo hooooo! Remember me? I know I’ve been gone for a looooong time dear readers, but rest assured I haven’t fallen of the face of the Earth. Since we last talked we finished up all the last minute details for our wedding, got married, went on our honeymoon, and have just begun to get back to normalcy. We've got a lot to report on and I know inquiring minds want to hear all about our wedding details, so here goes!

First things first . . . the day we boarded the plane to Jamaica. We arranged for a friend to take us to the airport early the morning of September 30. I set the alarm clock to go off early enough to give me time to take a shower and get all the last minute things together before Brian got to the house, but I forgot one critical thing—to actually turn the alarm on! Easy, right? WRONG! I totally forgot to turn the alarm clock on. We woke up to the dogs jumping out of the bed because someone was knocking on our door. That someone was Brian . . . coming to pick us up! Yikes! It was like a fire drill in our house that morning. The good news is I already had pretty much everything packed with the exception of our toiletries so there wasn't much left to pack. After a few laps around the house, we were out the door and on the way to the airport. Brian was such a nice friend—he knew how nervous J was about flying so he greeted him that morning with a Gentleman Jack and diet. An important detail not to be forgotten! HA!

Once we got to the airport, we checked in our luggage and headed to the airport café where we were greeted by Jason's aunt and uncle, who were headed to Jamaica with us a few days early. A short while later, we boarded the plane and headed to Atlanta, where we met my aunt, uncle and cousin, who were also headed to Jamaica a few days early with us. All flights to Jamaica were great and J did wonderful!

Here we are on the plane . . . we had just landed in Jamaica and were so happy! I was so happy to be in Jamaica getting married and J was so happy that the plane had touched ground!

Upon landing in Montego Bay, we had an hour bus ride to the resort. The ride certainly made for a lot of laughs (and scares!). What an experience!

Once we arrived at the resort, we were in Heaven! We were greeted by resort staff and two of our guests, Sandra and John, who had arrived in Jamaica the Sunday prior. We were taken to the concierge suite where we were handed the most delicious island drinks called "mesmerizers" as we waited to be escorted to our honeymoon suite.

After we settled in, we grabbed a bite to eat (where J was introduced to his love—jerk chicken) and enjoyed the daily afternoon shower.

The next morning, we enjoyed the daily breakfast buffet with our guests and then met up with Uncle Teddy, Stephanie and Cara on the white sandy beach and played in the crystal blue ocean (with drinks in hand of course!) while we waited for our Thursday bus-full of guests to arrive—my in-laws!

Thursday night, we just hung out around the resort and ate at the buffet. We played in the x-box garage and went to the beach party. It was a nice, fun, low-key night, which is just what we needed before all the wedding festivities began.

Here is Bryson proposing a celebratory 'cheers' – too cute!

Stay tuned for the arrival of my family and our friends, and our Friday fun!

Pinewood Shower

The Saturday before we left for Jamaica, Jason's dad's side of the family threw us our last shower, a couple's shower, in Pinewood, South Carolina. We had such a great time hanging out with that side of the family. Sadly, we don't get to see them nowhere near enough throughout the year so any time we have with them is always fun!

The hosts did a wonderful job and once again, we are so thankful. How we will ever be able to thank everyone who has been so thoughtful and generous to us during this time, I will never know!

We got some more wonderful gifts, which included a new lawn mower! I know our neighbor is jumping for joy now that she doesn't have to share with us anymore—HA!

It is sad for me to think that this shower was the last one of so many fantastic showers that were thrown for us. How did we ever get so lucky!?

THANK YOU so much to all of the wonderful hosts and THANK YOU to everyone who came to our shower to celebrate with us and for the awesome gifts! We are looking forward to seeing everyone in November!

Here are some pictures from this shower . . . hope you enjoy!

Bridal Shower

On September 20, my mom, my Aunt Wendy, my Aunt Melanie, and my Mamaw all threw me my last bridal shower.

It was perfect! The shower was completed with some of the most delicious food. Y'all know how I love food! It's generally the first area I head to.

There was an awesome cake from Publix, decorated with one of my favorite things -- polka dots! And Publix also made the most delicious petifores, decorated with another one of my favorite things -- palm trees!

It was nice to see several of my relatives and friends that I hadn't seen in awhile.

Once again, we got so man fabulous gifts! We got an awesome new rug, an adorable picnic basket, some ice shot glasses, luggage, and pictures frames -- just to name a few!

THANK YOU so much to Mom, Aunt Wendy, Aunt Melanie, and Mamaw for hosting such a wonderful bridal shower and for always making me feel so special and loved -- and THANK YOU to all our family and friends who came to celebrate with me. I am so thankful for each and every one of you! Thank you again!

Here are some photos from our fun afternoon!

Honey-Do Couples Shower

On September 5, Jason's three aunts threw him/us a Honey-Do Shower. It was such a fun evening with some of our loved ones! The shower was planned perfectly with a Jamaican theme. The invitations were complete with the cutest quote – "Jason is Jamaican Kayce his wife". We loved it all!

Since it was a couples shower, our families and friends were able to come as a couple rather than the traditional shower that only allows female guests. We had such a fun time! It had all the ingredients for a perfect shower . . . great gifts, lots of delicious food (and a yummy rum punch!), our loved ones, and a beautiful Charleston sunset.

A bunch of our awesome, awesome friends went in together and bought us the coolest gift and something that we were way overdue for . . .

How awesome is that? It was a total surprise! We've already grilled on it once, but we can't wait to use it for many, many years to come. THANK YOU to everyone who went in on it – you know who you are (and so do we – just too many to list out)! We cannot thank you enough.

THANK YOU to Aunt Dell, Aunt Debbie and Aunt Sandra (and Jason's uncles too!) for throwing us such a fun couples shower. Y'all did such a wonderful job hosting and we loved it all—especially the food! I couldn't get enough of it – you know I'm a piggy! Hopefully, I will still fit into my wedding dress—HA! I'm so glad J got to have something fun before the wedding. Thank you again!

And last but certainly not least, THANK YOU to all the guests who came and celebrated with us and for the all the wonderful gifts! It means so much to us.

Bachelor/Bachelorette Weekend!

Let's see, where did I leave off? Oh yeah -- our bachelor/bachelorette weekend! We both had such a blast! J golfed that Saturday morning with the guys and then went out that night. My weekend started on Friday night with a sleep over at my good friend, Elissa's house. Then, on Saturday morning, three of my other good friends and my future SIL hosted a lingerie brunch/shower for me. The food and drinks were delicious -- the girls did such a wonderful job hosting! It was so much fun -- and I got so many great gifts! THANK YOU so much - Ashley, Courtney, Kathleen and Katrina - for hosting such a wonderful lingerie brunch/shower!!!

Saturday, we all just hung out at the beach house and laid out in the sun. Then, later that afternoon, we all cleaned up and headed out Downtown for dinner and a night of F-U-N! And what F-U-N it was!! THANK YOU so much - Morgan for organizing and putting everything together for Saturday night!!! I could not have wished for a better bachelorette weekend and for a better group of girls to spend it with. We all agreed that we should do it once a year. It was such a blast! Here are some pictures to show you how much fun us girls had. I don't have any pictures from J's weekend . . . perhaps it's better that way? : ) Enjoy the pictures!

Bachelorette Weekend!

I am amazed every day by how great our families and friends are. They are always so generous to us and always make us feel so loved.

THANK YOU to everyone who came out and spent the weekend, or even a few hours, with me and J. It was a weekend we will never forget!

Less than three weeks to go!!!!

37 days!

Good news! I have been asked to shoot a wedding for a girl in my Bunco group—on October 10—just three days after we get back from Jamaica. Yes, you read that right! Three days! I know, I'm crazy! But we all already knew that, right? And guess where it is? The Ritz-Carlton in Amelia Island, Florida! And my sister is getting to go with me again to help lug around my equipment. Talk about coming off one vacay and going on another! I'm super excited about shooting this wedding!

More good news! J's wedding band FINALLY came in—and only two and ½ weeks late! Good thing we ordered it way in advance, huh? Crazy jewelers!

And more, more good news! I went to my first dress fitting on Monday and the dress fit like a glove! It was PERFECT and I love it! Now, all they're having to do is hem it and the bustle. I go for my final fitting on September 15 and can take it home that day if everything is right!

This weekend is our big weekend—the weekend of our bachelor/bachelorette parties. Should be interesting. I'm looking forward to it—to an all-girls weekend with lots of fun festivities. And I know J is looking forward to his "manly" festivities as well. We are so blessed to have such great families and friends who have helped us celebrate our upcoming wedding since we first got engaged!

And in the not-so-good-news department, guess what made an appearance this week? My beloved cold sore. It likes to show up in the most inopportune times. Like the week before my bachelorette party. Who wants pictures taken with a big, fat, ugly cold sore on their lip? UGH—such is life! Please, please, please pray that it doesn't make an appearance the week before our wedding. That would just be the worst!

By the way, I just realized this weekend is our "engage-a-versary." That is, we'll be engaged for one year this weekend. I cannot believe it's already been a year—and I really cannot believe we're only 37 days away from being Mr. & Mrs.!

My, how time flies!

My dress is in!

I'm so excited!

I got a call the other day from the bridal store calling to tell me that MY DRESS IS IN!

My first fitting is scheduled for this coming Monday.

I've decided not to blog too much about my dress before the wedding because I never know when J is lurking around here. But don't worry, I'll be sure to post lots of pictures in about 45 days!
